Ocular Trauma Diagnosis and Management

Ocular trauma is defined as injury to the eye or surrounding structures. It can be caused by an accident, impact, foreign bodies, chemical exposure, sharp objects or other trauma.

During the examination, we carefully assess the severity of the injury by checking vision, the front and back of the eye, and looking for any internal damage.

Treatment will vary based on type and severity of injury and may involve:

Eye Drops & Medicines: For pain, inflammation or infection.
Foreign Body Removal: removal of particles or objects which have become trapped in or around the eye.
Detailed Eye Examination: This is to detect any damage to the inside or retina of the eye.
Laser Treatment: If necessary for certain injuries of the interior of the eye.
Surgery: If an injury is so severe that it could affect vision or damage the shape of the eye.

The damage may be more serious than it looks in the eye, even though it may seem minor. Early diagnosis and timely treatment can help keep your sight.
